Project: Welcome packet

This project was created to introduce new developers and existing residents and business to a variety of services offered and reasources available.A welcome packet is available at the town hall and contains the following information:

    · Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light (CFL)

One 14 watt CFL equals a 60 watt incandescent and produces that same amount of light.

Although CFL bulbs are somewhat more expensive initially, they more than pay for

themselves over their average 10,000 hour life and cost less in total replacement costs

when compared to 6 to 10 incandescent bulbs. We have set a goal of replacing 1000

incandescent bulbs in Putney this fall 2006, and were already more than halfway there!

You can now purchase an assortment of them right in Putney at the new Solar Store in

    the old firehouse building.

    · Reduce car engine idling

If you drive a gasoline-powered car or truck you can substantially reduce energy and

expenses if you don’t allow your car to idle more than 10 seconds. Less pollution too!

    · Home or Business Energy Audit

PEC members would be happy to discuss your energy issues, and make recommendations

to help you save money. Dick Cartelli operates a company (Draft Detective) that performs energy audits.

    · Learn more about Efficiency Vermont and take advantage of its services

This is a state organization, funded by a small fee on all our electric bills, which provides

information, advice and funding for energy-saving practices to both homeowners and

businesses. A staff person from EV would be happy to make a presentation to a group of

local business-owners about the organization’s services. If you would be interested in such

    a meeting, contact us.

    · Volunteers from the PEC assembled this document and the associated packet available at the Town Hall.

We welcome new members and public involvement. Please consider joining our group and or starting your own energysaving campaign today!

If you would like more information about PEC please contact
